The day after his wife Kelley shot her velvet 8 point DJ pulled the pin on a nice 8 point his self. Good going bro! Deer dont make it far with a Rage thru both lungs.
Maryland's archery season has been open for 3 days. Pretty neat sequence here Jason and wife Kari along with DJ and his wife Kelley all killed deer on their first sits of the season- not shabby.
D.J's wife Kelley smokes another Velvet whitetail. D.J. decided to back out on the track after not seeing it fall in sight and Kelley went back in the morning to finish up the tracking job by herself. Who needs the men? Kelley followed the blood trail another 70 yards to her fine trophy and drug him back to the truck. Congrats Kelley! Way to show the boys how it's done!

"Doing your homework pays off, and today was proof for sure. Been bouncing around between a couple farms this week and just sitting and watching for a couple hours every morning to see what was flying, how many and when. Well we decided on a farm holding over 130 birds where they come in early and small group after small group. Well just like our scouting showed us 6:20 the action started and didnt stop until 7:02 when we finished our 6 man limit of 48 birds." ~DJ
Archery season has begun!! HOT HOT and more HOT!! We all agreed this was one of our more challenging hunts ever. A heat wave came over the Midwest while we had to sit in a black heat box (ground blind). Temps reached over a 100* and we felt it. Mike Pilchard booked an archery hunt for 3 days and Jason Kephart and son Alex (11) tagged along to run cameras. Cameras in use were Canon HD Hv series (20 and 40) and Canon T2i.
Beautiful morning sunrise over Nebraska skies
Can't say enough about Craig and Levi with Git R Done Outfitters in North Western Nebraska, very accomodating and Booner bucks on site to boot. Mike had a P&Y antelope skirt the blind out of bow range in the first 15 mins of light on the first morning.

Theres just simply not many ways to cool off during a 14 hour sit in those temps, we wound up cutting shirts and soaking in cooler water to maintain sanity.
On day three's hunt Pilchard had several doe and then two P&Y class bucks come in for a drink late that evening. Mike clipped part of the ground blind support bar sending the arrow astray and this antelope lives another day.. look close and you can see the arrow catapulted in flight, then landed short in water.. look even closer and you can see the arrow ricochet over his back (arrow is angled over buttocks upward)
Misc pics of the trip..
We highly reccomend pronghorns with Git R Done outfitters, call or look them up at www.gitrdoneoutfitters.com
